Prevent Chrome from reloading unused tabs, saving RAM

Posted On December 5, 2019

If you often open dozens of tabs in Chrome or Firefox, but only use one tab at a time, the phenomenon of full disk may occur, and will consume RAM. That’s why today, danny2507blog will share with you a utility to fix that, the opened tabs will temporarily “sleep” and will not use system memory until you click.

By default, Auto Tab Discard will freeze tabs after 10 minutes of inactivity, and the number of inactive tabs is greater than 6 tabs. However, you can still change the above information.

Tabs will not be removed if:

  • You have pinned that tab
  • When there is no Internet connection and the tabs are not yet cached in the browser cache.
  • When the tab is allowed to display notifications on the screen.

However, you can still change the above conditions. One of the strengths of the extension is that it offers many customization options. You can change the time, can freeze tabs after 2 minutes of inactivity. Or will freeze when the number of inactive tabs is greater than 3 tabs.

Download and install the extension at the link below:
